You&#8217;ll see petroglyphs etched into volcanic basalt, pueblos built into volcanic ash cliffs, and hiking trails lined with cactus and other desert plants. Use your Member password to access.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Website Updates<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Your executive has been working to improve the look and navigation of the website, so you may notice some changes from time to time. Last month we implemented a new CORE Photo Tour &#8220;Slider&#8221; which will hold more photos. We&#8217;ve also refreshed the slide set to be a bit more current. If you have a favorite CORE excursion photo that you would like to see featured in the CORE Photo Tour, kindly send the FOTKI link to the picture to the CORE Communications Coordinator,\u00a0 and we&#8217;ll do our best to add it to the picture stream.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Photo Albums<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We would like to recognize the efforts of those who post pictures in our Fotki albums.\u00a0 Please include your shutterbug\u2019s names or initials somewhere in your album descriptions.<\/p>\n<p>Also, we like to highlight in the monthly CORE Newsletter as many of our events as possible with pictures from the CORE photo albums. Please remember to take a few photos on your trips and post them. If you don&#8217;t know how, please contact one of the Executive members, or ask your event leader.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Revelstoke Weekend August Long Weekend<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Fri. Jul. 29 to Mon. Aug. 1 (3 nights).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Glacier House Resort, Revelstoke (<\/strong>10.5 kms north of Revelstoke along Columbia River)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glacierhouse.com\/\"><strong>http:\/\/www.glacierhouse.com\/<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary: (Complete information is posted on the CORE Calendar)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cabins are filling up and we have 18 people booked so far. The weekend is bound to be lots of fun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are one person interested in attending but want to get other people before booking a cabin, please let Cheryl know and she will contact you when other(s) also let her know, then someone can book a cabin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information about booking accommodation or on the hikes already planned, please visit the CORE event calendar.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>The Norseman Outdoor Shop Special Event<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Save this date for a special CORE event!: Wednesday, May 4th (6:30 p.m.)<br \/>\nStaff at the Norseman Outdoor Specialists (formerly Norseman X-C Ski &amp; Hike Shop) have offered to provide an educational talk and tour of their store, focusing on hiking clothing and apparel (e.g., hiking pants, shirts, tops, rain wear, hats), plus gear like boots, poles and backpacks. The event will begin at 6:30. Towards the end of the evening there will be a chance to do a little browsing and shopping. CORE members are eligible for a 10% discount on hiking items (as long as they are not on sale). Topics can range from a direct CORE hiking outing to adventurous travel stories (sorry, no family vacations to Harry Potter World).
