Of that money, $6,000 was to be used for educational and safety funding (the remaining $1,000 to be used for a celebration of life). The fund was called the Peterman Education Endowment Fund.

CORE has held several courses over the years and the money was used up by 2019.
The Executive decided in 2019 to continue with the fund, renaming it as the Peterman Education Fund.
This fund will be dependent on the CORE General Fund balance sheet of the previous fiscal year and current budget year, to a maximum amount of $1,000 per year.

In 2025, the Executive committee decided to discontinue the Peterman Education Fund as a separate entity and instead put the remaining money back into the CORE general fund. This will be done online, and participants and payments will be notified to the coordinator.

A member of the Executive should be assigned to oversee and document each course, costs, as well as collecting the Trip Reports, Course Report, participant reviews, etc.

Members signing up for any CORE funded course should be members in good standing and have been a member for a minimum of 3 months.
