XC Ski: Cascade Fire Road (E-M) Cascade Fire Road follows a section of the closed Lake Minnewanka road, then turns up the Cascade valley on an old fire road; often in good condition. Pleasant ski with good views and a fun downhill run on the return trip. 6.4 km to the bridge over the Cascade River - a good destination for a shorter trip. The elevation over the full 14 km length (one way) is 180 m. Since our return is on the same route, those skiing a longer distance would rejoin the rest of the group on the downhill back to the vehicles. (Please give a phone # when registering by email).
