PERSEID METEOR SHOWER PLUS OPTIONAL SUNRISE HIKE: Weather permitting, we will travel to one of the nearby hearts of darkness (i.e. Elbow Valley, w. of Bragg Ck) to view this annual astronomical event. Expect ~60 meteors/hr under ideal conditions. EARLY MORNING departure from Calgary, 2:30am (Yes, two-thirty AM). No whiners (it's too early, too cold, too dark, I'm bored, etc.), please. Optional hike, probably Powderface Ridge (moderate dif, 10km, 500m), thereafter. Coordinator will reply on Monday with go/no-go and meeting location.
