Sunny, +6C. Herds of elk, deer. woodpeckers, hawks, cougar tracks. Sheltered trail with numerous hills for viewpoints and open-wide meadows.
WATERTON WINTER WONDERLAND-SOFA MOUNTAIN (M): Sofa Mtn. to visit the "Queen"- Moderate off-trail snowshoe through open meadows and thru the Sofa Mtn. burn following the contours up to the rock pinnacles where a profile of the Queen can be seen. Fabulous views out to the prairies and pictures with the Queen (sorry, she doesn't do autographs - ha,ha) We will return the same way or traverse across to the scramble access. Elev. Gain = 400m, distance= 8 km round trip.
